Artist / Pio Abad
Information
“I’m interested in the patterns through which excess nourishes idiosyncratic systems of meaning, from the aesthetics of Louis XIV boudoirs, to our own schizophrenic relationship with luxury…I seek to explore the irrevocable links between the pompous and primal, the ornamental and the excremental, the decadent and the delusional.” The intense materiality of Abad’s sculptures is clearly translated into the finely detailed line of the drawings to create works that hover between abstraction and figuration.
